THE TEAM

  • Founder, President & IR Representative

    Deborah Honig is a capital markets specialist with more than 15 years of experience dealing with institutional, retail, and high-net-worth clients. Prior to founding Adelaide Capital Markets, she worked as an institutional equity salesperson at full-service investment banks in Toronto for 9 years. Before her career in institutional sales, Deborah was a wholesaler of hedge funds, mutual funds, flow-through funds, and other structured products to the retail advisor community. She has sold research ideas and products, created trade ideas, worked on block trades, marketed companies, conducted multi-city national and international roadshows, sold a variety of different financings, and generated new corporate finance ideas. She has been involved in more than $1 billion of capital raises over the course of her career, with a focus on small-cap growth companies in mining, healthcare, technology, industrials, and special situations. Her greatest strength is her ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of different clients. Deborah has a B.A. (Hons) from the University of Toronto and holds the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation and Derivative Market Specialist designation (DMS). Deborah is also the Lead Director of Val-d’Or Mining Corp.

    Victoria Rutherford brings 10+ years of capital markets sell side experience and relationships to Adelaide Capital. Prior to joining Adelaide Victoria worked in equity sales for 9 years with Macquarie Group (most recently) and National Bank Financial. During this time, Victoria sold Canadian equity ideas, company research, and new equity financings into her network of Canadian & US institutions. She has set up numerous targeted road shows across North America connecting corporates with the investment community. Victoria has helped companies formulate their message and investor presentation, routinely provided corporates with detailed investor feedback & trading colour and helped to source blocks. Victoria specializes in small to mid-cap equities and oil & gas equities. Prior to sales, Victoria worked in investment banking at RBC Capital markets assisting with new capital raises and mergers and acquisitions. She built corporate financial models, analyzed company data and put together numerous pitch books and corporate presentations. Victoria graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor in Business Administration Honours with distinction and a minor in Economics. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

    Jessica Butt has worked in the capital markets for 27 years. She began her career in 1994 as an Investment Advisor at Yorkton Securities and transitioned to Institutional Equity Sales in 1998 at Dundee Securities.

    In 1999 she returned to Yorkton/Orion Securities as a key member of their newly formed Canadian Oil & Gas team. There she established longstanding key relationships with the Canadian Oil & Gas community which remain. She successfully built out Orion’s U.S. and Canadian institutional relationships, helping to advise Corporates on messaging, pitch books, road shows and aligning them with key investors. She became a Sr. Partner of Orion in 1994.

    In 2007 Orion was purchased by Macquarie Capital Markets Canada where she remained as Sr. VP, Director until Macquarie closed its Canadian Sales & Trading operations in 2019. During her tenure she was responsible placing multi billions worth of equity deals in both Energy & Mining in addition to idea generation and active trading with the buy-side. In 2010 Jessica was recognized with The Brendan Woods Top Gun Award.

    Following her time with Macquarie Capital Markets, Jessica joined Oberon Capital where she was Managing Director of Energy Equities. Utilizing her strong key corporate and buy-side relationships, Jessica both sourced and placed charity flow through deals.

    Jessica studied Political Science at the University of Calgary.

    With 10 years of mining-centred experience in industry, capital markets, and journalism, Magda Gardner’s key skill is the ability to understand and explain the key drivers behind exploration and mining projects.

    Before joining Adelaide Capital, Magda was a news editor and reporter with the Northern Miner Group, generating content on companies, projects, and sector trends for the Northern Miner and Canadian Mining Journal, two of Canada’s leading mining publications.

    Her interest in small-cap mining sparked while working in the Precious Metals equity research group at GMP Securities, where she spent almost three years as a research associate, focusing on explorers, developers, and emerging producers. While at GMP, she helped write research reports, built and updated financial models, and attended exploration and mine site visits. Prior to GMP, she spent two years as an engineer-in-training and engineering student at Glencore’s Kidd Creek copper-zinc mine in Timmins, one of the world’s deepest underground mines.

    Magda holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Science from the University of Toronto, where she graduated with honours from the Lassonde Mineral Engineering program. She has completed levels I and II of the CFA exams.

    Lily Law has two years of capital markets experience, cultivating relationships with institutional, retail, and high-net-worth investors. She has orchestrated multiple tailored road shows across North America, facilitating direct engagement between corporates and the investment community. In addition, Lily has helped guide corporates to articulate their message and refine investor presentations, consistently delivering detailed feedback to elevate corporate communication strategies.

    Following an IR internship with Adelaide, Lily has transitioned into a full-time role as an Investor Relations Associate. With previous experience in capital markets business administration, Lily has developed a deep understanding of how businesses operate and how to reach their target audience.

    Lily graduated with Distinction from McGill University with a B.A in Sociology and Marketing. With this, she brings a distinctive combination of analytical and creative skills, underpinned by a deep understanding of business operations and audience outreach.

    Kay Bukhari has worked in investor and public relations for 5 years and has decades of client relations management and operations experience across different industries. She began her career in finance as a retail banker followed by joining the registered issuer tabulations team at Broadridge working with corporate issuers and investor proxies. Most recently, Kay served as Vice President of Operations at a microcap public and investor relations firm based in the US, overseeing all company logistics and driving growth and revenue. Kay graduated from Fordham University in her hometown of New York City, New York with a Bachelor’s in Sociology and currently resides in Los Angeles, California. She brings with her an extensive background in operations and client success from various corporate financial environments.

    Companies with a great story that want to grow need to be online and Baaba Hughes’ background in Marketing, Advertising, and Community Management allows her to develop custom strategies that deliver real results Baaba is able to blend creativity with analytics to grow follower bases, increase impressions and generate interest around key catalysts. Working closely with a range of listed companies, start-ups and multinational banks has allowed Baaba to develop successful marketing methodologies that serve companies and stakeholders.

  • Social Media Manager & Video Lead

    A seasoned professional in media and marketing, Annie Lewis views video as the "holy trinity" of digital content. By seamlessly blending audio, visual, and text, Annie Lewis creates “divine” creative elements that strategically target optimal audiences. Previously Annie was at Rogers Sports & Media (Sportsnet) and handled diverse responsibilities including broadcasting, marketing, copywriting, social media, and event planning at Rogers Radio (KiSS 92.5, 98.1 CHFI, 680 NEWS, Sportsnet 590) and seasonal work with the Toronto Blue Jays.
